About Us

I had interest in the town bec of my family history in Ephrata (Grandfather George Coached there in the 40s-50s before moving the family to Lititz—Male Trophy is awarded to the winner of the Ephrata-Warwick Football game every year) and my wife Linda Carroll Male is from Ephrata. My wife, her twin sister Shannon Sensenig and her husband Gary started introducing me to all these great Ephrata friends and I knew I wanted to be part of Ephrata’s growth. My wife and her sister worked at Donekcers while in high school. I played for Ephrata’s Dek hockey teams back in the day and met other great friends from the Ephrata Area during that time.

Steve Funk is the owner of Hillside Spirits and we have been friends for over 20 years. He was instrumental in the distilling start up companies in Dewey Beach and Rehoboth Beach. He left the beach distillery and started Hillside Spirits in Paradise, Pa in 2018. He is married to Jayme Snavely Funk formerly of Lititz.

The Hillside will be a tasting room with multiple beverage and food options. We will have 8 beers on tap and a variety of cans from different parts of the state. Hillside Spirits will provide vodka, flavored vodka, gin, and rum. We will have other local distillery brands available. One example is Stoll & Wolfe from Lititz will provide Whiskey and Bourbon. Our major food partner is lifelong Ephrata residents Barry and Kathy Fair and their Brewster’s BBQ. They will have a full menu of their BBQ, Turkey, Ribs, Brisket, Sides, Samplers, and Appetizers. We will also have Tsunami Sushi providing additional food on certain nights of the week.
